Favorite Song....

Ok so this blog challenge is already hard.  I like a variety of music.  I mostly listen to country, love worship and praise music, and love several artist.  My favorite right now would be Zac Brown Band.  I love his music.  ........and don't think I can pick my favorite ~ I love Cross Canadian...Geez I love lots of artists...
So, I'm going to do do a 360 here and pick a hymn that really speaks to me and comes in my mind a LOT.
"It is well with my soul"
It's a old church song, been around for awhile.  I've always liked it but several years back I went to a bible study over a book titled "Lessons Learned in the Dark" by Jennifer Rothchilds.  Jennifer had a regular life and was healthy.  When she was in high school she began to see some black spots in her vision.  She ignored it for awhile and finally told her parents.  They took her to the eye dr and immediatly learned that she had a rare disorder and would be completely blind in a matter of weeks.  Her parents were completely torn, they were devistated, Jennifer writes that the car ride home from the hospital was quiet, not a word was spoken.  Tears flowed.  When they arrived home Jennifer went and sat down at the piano and she played "It is well with my soul"  she didn't plan to play it, didn't think about it, the Lord put it on her heart at that instant.  Then she decided at that moment to make the best of the situation.  She is now a motivational speaker, she is a beautiful singer, and pianist.  She is an amazing Christian and mother.  She turned the worst into a great thing.  She inspired me, and ever since I heard this story this song has stuck with me.

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,

It is well, it is well, with my soul
it is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Definetly makes me think of when I lost my very best friend and sister.  It was a time in my life that I didn't feel as though anything would ever be "well with my soul" - many years and many prayers have made it well with my soul.  It still stings and hurts but I know that one day I will see her again.  I miss everything about having having my best friend and sister, but God never promised anything would be easy... just promised he'd be there for us.
.....It is well with my soul.
