Happy Easter

Easter Party!!!

 Jaxen's 2nd Grade Class
FYI - Jaxen has a basket but it "wasn't cool" to take it.  That's
why he is caring a Wal-Mart sack??  SO COOL! ;)
I got to help with Jaxen's Easter Party this year.  We brought lil goody bags for all the kids.  They had a quick egg hunt, snacks, and played a few games.  Hard to believe my 'boy' is finishing up his year in 2nd grade!!!!!

Week of the Young Child

She even got her "Drivers License" from Trooper John
Ali and Madi - Best Buddies
Madi is in pre-k this year.  They are super creative at her school and do so many neat things.  They celebrate each holiday and make a learning experience out of everything.  A big week for the Pre-K is the "Week of the Young Child" ~ Her class hung their art work around town, in business, etc.  They had mini field trips all week and they learned about community helpers.  The week wrapped up with their St Jude's Trike-a-thon.  I have always given to St Judes because I think it's a great organization.  So Madi raised money and did the Trike-a-thon. She loved every minute of this week!!!!

Just Because... YOU CAN!

Do you ever go out of your way...because you can?....because it'll make someone smile? Just because?? I used to be a lot better at this...but  I try REALLY hard to make an effort to show appreciation anytime I can.  I like to write Thank You notes, "just because" notes, and I like to suprise someone with a random act of kindness.  I do not do this for anyone to know I did it or for a pat on the back....I just think it's a really neat thing to do something for others just because I can.

"Do unto others as you would
have other do unto you." Matthew 7:12

...a verse that stays in the forefront of my mind.  It is a reminder that if I want to say something...do something...etc How would I feel if the same thing was being done to me?  Sure helps keep things in check and in perspective. Would you want to be judged the way you judge others?  Would you want someone to say about you what you said about someone else?  Would you love if someone suprised you with something?  Would you love is someone was praying for you even when you didn't ask?

So a few months ago I got a card that wasn't signed in the mail.  No return address and it read "We appreciate all you do for our congregation, all you do does not go unnoticed."  WOW!  Talk about make my heart and face smile.  Just a simple one liner and I was beyond encouraged and appreciative!  I love our church, I love teaching my little class at church, taking meals, doing anything I can to do what I should do as a Christian anyways... so I just gained motivation to keep on keeping on.  :)

Then yesterday, the secretary at the front desk called me and said "Shaaae..... you have FLOWERS!"  What?  I NEVER never EVER get flowers!  First I thought 'Oh Will screwed up, our anniversary is a month away' -- no idea who would've done this for me.  Well I opened the card and it read "Thank you for helping me and inspiring me! You are a blessing to me."  WOOOT!  WOOOT!  Boy did I have a smile from ear to ear...okay and a little tear too!  It was from a dear friend that is probably 20 yrs older than me.  She has inspired me and helped me so much, and for her to say I inspire her.  WOW!  Amazing :)  ...and they sure are pretty on my desk too! 'Just sayin'

My point is those 2 things completely and totally made my day.  That inspired me, motivated me, encouraged me, and made me want to be better!  So again "Do unto others as you would  have them do unto you" came to my mind.  So my goal is this:  if I try to do something once a day to make someone smile, imagine what this would mean to that person.  Imagine if everyone had this same goal, the world would be a better place.

That's all folks....now you know my thoughts for the day...;)

Easter!

We celebrated "Palm Sunday" with Will's Family in Watonga on Sunday.  The kids had a lil' Easter Egg Hunt.  It's funny how much their "hunting" skills change from year to year..

It's very hard to understand in the beginning that the whole idea is not to beat the other runners. Eventually, you learn that the competition is against the little voice inside your head that wants you to quit. -Dr. George Sheehan

Well I haven't been running as much this year like I did last year but a week ago Saturday I did a 5K run to benefit Western OK Homecare and Hospice.  It's for a great cause.
I try to run in my 'spare time' throughout the week
but lately it's been hard to get many runs in.

...BUT I did it and was proud of my time.  It was HOT and it was WIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNDDDDDY!

...I had a few great cheerleaders that watched me too ;)

The coordinator of the Western OK Hospice Run did a great job!  They had a very successful run!

Energy Gala

Will and I had the honor of attending the 2011 Energy Gala on Saturday at the Skirvin Hotel, downtown OKC.  We had a nice evening away and I got to meet the Govenor, Mary Fallin along with JC Watts.  It was a very nice evening.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."
Deuteronomy 31:6
I came upon this verse while doing my bible study the other night and I just love this verse.  We sing this verse at church a lot and it just speaks to me.  Lately I have felt pretty rundown, overwhelmed, like there's not enough of me to go around, and honestly just pretty down and out.  However, when I read this verse it puts it right in front of me that I'm never alone.  He will 'never leave me or forsake me' - Wow!  How many friends or family members are like that? We have the ultimate father and friend at all times but take it for granted.
What an awesome God we serve!
